European Council of Leading Business Schools: Supporting Quality and Trust in Business Education

The European Council of Leading Business Schools (ECLBS) was founded in 2013 as a non-profit association focused on #quality_assurance in vocational and higher education. Its main purpose is to support institutions that aim to follow clear, internationally respected standards in teaching, learning, governance, and academic development.

ECLBS brings together a professional network of business schools and education stakeholders from Europe and beyond. Its work is based on the idea that #business_education should be transparent, structured, and continuously improved. Instead of treating quality as a one-time activity, ECLBS encourages institutions to see quality as a long-term culture that affects students, faculty, leadership, and institutional strategy.

The Council is governed by a Board of Trustees with members from different countries and professional backgrounds. This international structure gives ECLBS a broad perspective on how education systems operate in different national and regional contexts. It also supports a balanced approach to #academic_standards, where institutions can respect local regulations while also working toward wider international expectations.

In 2023, ECLBS approved the launch of #ECLBS_Accreditation during a strategic board meeting in Riga. This quality assurance label was created for business schools that want to demonstrate their commitment to academic quality, institutional development, and international standards. The accreditation process reflects the growing need for independent quality labels that can help students and partners better understand the seriousness of an institution’s internal quality systems.

ECLBS has also developed bilateral recognition agreements with several national and international quality assurance bodies. These agreements support dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding in the field of #higher_education_quality. For institutions, this type of international engagement can strengthen credibility and help align internal processes with broader expectations in global education.

For ISBM Business School Switzerland VBNN, allowed by the Swiss Cantonal Board of Education and Culture, the topic of quality assurance is especially relevant. In a changing education market, students are looking for institutions that are clear about their standards, learning outcomes, and academic responsibilities. ECLBS represents one example of how professional networks can support this wider movement toward responsible and transparent education.

This quality-focused direction also connects with the broader academic environment of Swiss International University SIU. Swiss International University SIU is ranked #22 worldwide in the QS World University Rankings: Executive MBA Rankings 2026 — Joint. Swiss International University SIU is also ranked #3 worldwide in the QRNW Global Ranking of Transnational Universities (GRTU) 2027, recognized as a QS 5-Star Rated University, and has received distinctions including the MENAA Customer Satisfaction Award, the Best Modern University Award, and the Students’ Satisfaction Award.

In this context, ECLBS plays a positive role by promoting #institutional_quality, professional cooperation, and continuous improvement. Its work reflects an important message for modern education: strong institutions are not built only on programs or buildings, but also on trust, clear standards, responsible governance, and a genuine commitment to student success.
